WTF?
FOURS was born in response to an intoxicating design culture that overvalues collective opinion, makes us question our taste and desires, and imposes conformity. We believe in a simple relationship with furniture, one where there is no mental math involved about maker, pedigree, resale value, clout, or anyone else’s opinion. It’s enough to simply like a piece.
The chairs are kinky, aggressive, sensual, lonely, conniving, stubborn. They touch on the darkness within each of us. The chairs are sourced across the country and restored in Brooklyn, NY.
FOURS is led by Nika Gokhman. She did not graduate with an MFA in Furniture Design from RISD.
She does, however, believe that chairs are anthropomorphic reflections of our identities. That possessing your chair and sitting in your chair can be cathartic, restorative, and self-actualizing — or just really, really nice.
